Beta Pictoris and a planet in the making
We are always intrigued by the formation of planets around stars. In this image, the newborn star Beta Pictoris seems to validate this hypothesis. Because it can be seen edge-on, it is the best example of how a forming young planetary system looks like. Hubble has studied this star for more than a decade, and through repeated observations, we can see how a disk appears to revolve around the star. NASA, ESA, and D. Apai and G.
